My Birthday Today…

My Birthday Today...It’s my birthday today, and before you ask, no I am not revealing my age.  HA HA.  Some years I feel weird about my age, others I don’t.  This is one of those slightly uncomfortable years.  Does that ever happen to you?

Anyways, I am packing up the puppy and heading out of town this weekend to spend time with my parents and sister.  With everything that has been going on personally the last few weeks, I am happy to keep it low profile and small this year.

I just wanted to say how much I appreciate you in my life and allowing me to do the work I love doing every day – helping people realize their dreams and building product lines for them.  So thank you for that.

I hope you enjoy your weekend (maybe with your loved ones) as well!

I’ve received so many well wishes and calls regarding the scare I had with my husband 2 weeks ago.  Thank you so much.  As many of you requested I just wanted to send a quick update.  BTW – If you missed the first email that went out 2 weeks ago to my database about the accident you can read it below this email.

Jarrod is still in a lot of pain; he can’t sit or stand for long without being in pain, which makes each day difficult.  Although he is walking around a bit and able to change some of his own wounds now.  I just spent yesterday from almost sunrise to sunset in hospital and clinics driving around and meeting with surgeons who are all giving us an opinion on whether Jarrod should go into surgery on Monday to slice his upper jaw off and get it repositioned.  My husband is a big guy and I swear he almost fainted at the news of that plus possibly being wired shut for a month.  Talk about a horror movie scenario.

We are looking at other alternatives and may postpone that surgery for now.

We are both in good spirits though and laughing wherever we can.  I even teased him that he probably should not have been wearing his “ironman” sweatshirt to the doctor meetings, as it may have given them subliminal messages.  He laughed.

So after feeling exhausted and drained for the last 2 weeks (that’s both of us).  I am excited to get back to work.  I’m still doing the home care thing, but it’s nice to have clients and work to focus on as well.

One email I received from a student included her grandmothers advice (wise woman) who said, “One phone call can change your life in an instant.” That has stuck with me as it’s so true, good or bad.   So as life can change in an instant, appreciate your life and loved ones, but also to get your butt in gear – so that you can have a good instant phone call.  I know it can be a hard balance sometimes, as I am balancing right now, taking it one day at a time and focusing on what important (my husband’s health), but also not putting off projects (like my book) and others that I have wanted to do.  I know what it’s like to have felt behind when I see competitors stuff coming out and daily other priorities take over.

I know you can relate as I’ve spoken personally to almost every one of the people in my database.  This happens to all of us on different scales.  Even the mega famous people in your niche, trust me I have worked with people like that.  The difference may be that they took on a partner or got help from a team or just simply made up their mind to go for it no matter what.  Even a good Virtual Assistant who can help you put into action what you’ve been stalling on could make the key difference in your business.

But the biggest difference really begins with you stop being in the dumps or in inaction, and begin believing in yourself, your talent, and your parking space in the world, and thinking bigger if you want bigger.  At the BIG office in life – you already have a registered VIP parking spot reserved for you up front, you just have to believe it and drive up into it.  The world is not against you, it is just waiting for you to act, so it can act back and help.

Well that’s my new philosophy now.  Maybe you will find one that works for you.

It’s like the universe wanted to drill this message into me, once I got it.  At 2 different hospital waiting rooms I “happened” to pick up 2 different magazines, both that re-iterated the message I just gave to you, plus gave me new content ideas for my book (the project I was putting off – for too many logical reasons).

Then arriving home, I caught 15 minutes of the X-Factor TV show, and saw a woman who reminded me in looks and personality of Tina Turner, one of my personal idols.  She was a single mother of 2, had a hard life, and people around her telling her she was “nothing” and had no talent almost all her life.  Turns out, she may be the BEST talent in the whole competition.  She sings like any famous singer and with more soul and depth, probably from her experience and pain.  She makes you just want to listen to her as you understand “she gets it”.  Isn’t that like your story and my story?   How you and I can relate to others too?  They can hear you as you KNOW what they’ve gone through.

Slowly, she is realizing that the only difference between her and the famous and wealthy, is the fact that she stopped believing in herself.  She is one a mission to change that.

So let’s join her mission and be bold together!  It’s time.

All the best,
Stefanie

Accident happened Friday, Sept 30th, 2011

Email From:  Stefanie Hartman
Sent: Monday, October 3, 2011 9:42 AM

The past 3.5 days have been a whirlwind for me on the home front.  Friday afternoon while just wrapping up a meeting with Irene, a client I’ve had for over 4 years, I got a call from the Emergency Room at the Hospital.  They informed me that my husband was in a motorcycle accident, has regained consciousness and is asking for me.

They say everything happens for a reason, well I tell you reason #1, it was a blessing that Irene, someone I am close with, was there at that moment.

I drove an hour to get to the hospital and unfortunately to get there I had to drive through the accident scene.  I was at the red light 4 car lengths from the intersection.  I saw the flashing lights, the caution tape, and about 6 officers roaming the scene.  I had to wait, shaking, until I could pull ahead and turn right at that intersection.  I pulled over and waved the cop down.  In doing so, as I crept up to the corner I saw the blood in the intersection, glass everywhere and my husband’s motorcycle, which looked as if someone took a chainsaw and sliced the top off it and front section.

I felt sick and had to sit in my car a few meters from the ER entrance just to get my senses together before I could drive to the ER entrance.

Reason #2, Jarrod had the accident ½ block from hospital.  In motorcycle accidents they want to get there soon.  Apparently, staff heard the accident and ran to the scene.

Upon arrival, I saw my husband on a stretcher and I had about 60 seconds with him to kiss him and tell him its ok, help calm him as they whisked him away to check for spinal cord injuries and other internal injuries.   I won’t tell you everything that happened over the next 5 hours, but as you can imagine, he had several exams, I had several meetings with doctors, and police, and then had to call his parents, and make arrangements with friends to look after our dog and bring my husband clothes as his were all cut off him.

The next 2 days was pretty much the same.  Plus helping to care for him at the hospital.

Reason #3 things happen for a reason, I was scheduled to have a business meeting with an ER Doctor at 4pm, related to my business, so thank you Dr. Tim for being on the phone with me all Friday afternoon translating the news and telling me what to expect.  You were a miracle for me that day, and a soft place to land.   So almost at the exact time of our scheduled meeting, instead of discussing business we were discussing my husband’s condition.  Amazing.

The accident is still under investigation but from witnesses, it looks as if a truck came in illegally and made a u-turn in the middle of intersection and hit my husband.  Witnesses said he flew 15 feet.  As of now my husband has short term memory loss due to the accident. For now, it’s probably better that way, we are waiting for it to return.

I brought him home late Sunday night, and I am acting as his home care nurse, as he cannot do much by himself and is in constant pain.  But he is sleeping a little better at home.  He has been very emotionally impacted by the event and our family is made stronger from this event.

He has several appointments with dentists, doctors and plastic surgeon and more.  So due to help caring for him, changing wounds, feeding  and driving him to places, I hope you can extend some leeway to me as I have had to re-schedule some client meetings this week and next.  I am doing my best to minimize that as much as possible.

Overall he was very lucky; he had all the right equipment on.  I had the unpleasant task of bringing all his stained and shredded gear home that night.

He might need some plastic surgery on his face and jaw as he has fractures there, and I am deciding whether to request Pierce Brosnan or Gerald Butler.  I’ll keep you posted.  Plus some broken bones, sprains, road rash and a punctured lung, and of course his muscles are seizing.  But in the big picture it could have been much worse.

I also learned about the power of community during this experience. Even though I can have fun at parties, I am typically a private person, who likes her private time, that’s how I recharge my batteries.  So I don’t always go to every event or seminar.  However, it was so wonderful, my neighbors brought over wine (for me) and cookies for Jarrod, and another brought brownies and offered her sons services to cut our lawn (not sure what her son thinks of that).  Family has helped out as well.

The Power of community is important, in life and in business.

So let’s continue to support each other as everyone wins with that mentality.  And life has interesting timing.

Thank you for all your well wishes!  Please understand I won’t be able to call everyone back, as I am rushing around just trying to get everything done, and with little sleep these days.  But please know that you are all in my heart and I am supremely grateful.

So go out today and hug someone you care about as life can change in an instant.

Make this a powerful week.  Don’t wait; get your dream projects going!

Thank you.

All the best,
Stefanie

A friend of mine just sent what I feel is a great and timely email and I wanted to pass it onto you.  At this time he isn’t even aware of me doing so.  But Gary is not only a former client of mine, but a really good friend and I learn about as much from him as he does from me.  He is a great teacher and one of the few truly insightful, intuitive people I know.

Whether you read his message and just soak it up, or you read it and book a session with him or with me, whatever you decide or need is great.

Just today I decide to print out personal notes from my client’s I’ve worked with a display them in frames around me – as a reminder.  Being surrounded by love and reminded of our gifts can be important on those days where we waiver.  These notes are not simple thank you’s, they are immensely personal notes that often bring tears to my eyes.  Words have power, and when it comes from the heart and a personal space it is even more powerful and often needed for the recipient.

I want you to do well on your journey and every now and then, even the best of us (meaning you), sometimes need some encouraging words to remind us who we are, and to stay true to our path.

His email is below.

Warmest Regards,
Stefanie Hartman

Notes from Gary:

It has been a while since I’ve written a newsletter and with so much occurring at the moment in the world and having received lots of emails from clients and students with concerns from different parts of the world I’m putting thought to keyboard.

This is what has been happening in my world. I have been extraordinarily busy with trainings and clients in Australia with the corporate side of the business booming. I’m back in the states developing several on-line trainings so the information can reach a wider audience. I’m finishing that project up before heading off to Paris, Bali and Australia. It’s been a busy year but not without its challenges and unpredictable circumstances.

What I have witnessed is, the amount of energetic, emotional and financial intensity occurring right now is really nothing like I have experienced before and hence the number of emails I have been receiving. As I read through many of the emails I desired to share some thoughts and recent personal experiences of mine with the hopes they may inspire, encourage and bring focus.

We are living within a time where the illusion of our political and financial systems are becoming transparent here in the US and around the world. Many emails have confessed confusion and fear that goes along with realizing what once seemed so invincible and stable is actually not really stable at all and far from invincible.   Many of my students and friends are on the threshold of real personal and financial concern and my feeling is we require putting this period of our lives and history into perspective.

On a practical note I truly believe that there are no insurmountable problems only inflexible thinking and a lack of innovation and adaptability. So for many of my phone coaching clients that I am working with, I’m helping them generate ideas, clear their fear and scarcity thinking, clarify their communication in their business and personal relationships, so they can see possibility instead of lack and fear. Most importantly create a doable plan for the next year that works.

We must remember we are reality generating creatures and what we feel, speak and dwell upon, we create more of and create it faster than ever before. You can adjust to every situation given you when you remain the one with the most flexibility and have the possibility mind set. Is it easy?

No, but is it your best possible option? I would have to say yes.

The alternative really sucks and creates just more fear, upset and feelings of impossibility which is the last place you require you’re thinking to be.

I am constantly reminding myself that at the heart of all we experience in life is a spiritual experience with wisdom’s that are constantly revealing themselves if we only have the eyes and heart to witness them.

I’d like to share a brief moment I had today that may shine a light on a topic that is very important in these times. There are some big places in my life that I am facing uncertainty.   I found myself at the gym this morning and was sitting on one of the machines wondering which way my fate would fall. What ball would be thrown to me and what game would I be playing. Suddenly I found myself closing me eyes and saying the following:
Great Spirit I do not know where you want me to do the work.

I will go where you open the door for me to enter. And I will not stand for long beating at the door that has closed. I surrender my life over to be directed and be of service. Give me the courage and wisdom to surrender to the synchronicity of life’s circumstances because I know that is how You speak to me.  Give me the power to be patient, confident, courageous and strong in all my life’s situations whether it meets my desires or not. Let me live unattached to what I think it ought to be and be happy with how it is.

After speaking this silently within myself, I felt a surge of strength and peace, come over me. Yes small things can happen at the oddest moments that make a big difference even on a bench press machine at the local gym. So ask more inside yourself to whatever you believe in. It’s not what you say, it’s the sincerity of your heart.

If you are struggling in any aspect of your life I truly believe there is a power that here’s for you if you ask. Remember to ask.

Additionally it is not just about a personal prayer and suddenly you’ve done your bit, it is equally about taking massive action through goals, innovation and mind set. You cannot afford to luxuriate in negative thinking and fear based worry about the future. Unless of course You desire to create it in the image of your fear. There is nothing that the world can throw at you that you cannot conquer as long as you’re a good steward of your focus.

Polish your mindset and heart with surrender mixed with some powerful intention and creative innovation. It has been the only thing that has ever worked in my life. This is where the rubber hits the road. It is not what you know but how you utilize what you know in moments of tribulation. In the fire of your life challenges is where your studies and learning’s become transmuted into your character and the eternal wisdom of your soul.

Light, Gary De Rodriguez

The Few versus The Many

I was so outraged Wednesday night – I could have screamed.

Rarely do I get very angry about things.

But if one thing makes me so angry, it’s this…

People who demonstrate through their own actions or words, purposeful, intentional destructive behavior to another individual’s spirit, reputation, body or property with zero conscious and sometimes glee. These are what I call “the bad seed”, in the severe cases (it’s called psychopaths).  But with last night’s story, I am referring to the “bad seeds”.

Last night, in my home town, as many of you know, there was a very big hockey game – The Stanley Cup.  Our city was THRILLED to be part of this and it was between us, the Vancouver Canucks and the Boston Bruins.

In the beginning we were in the lead with  winning 3 games in  a row – but then Boston bounced back, and they took the cup (top prize) – on our own home turf in the end.  I was disappointed our city didn’t win.  But at the same time, I thought, what a cool story, this Bruins team went against the odds and won the series, against an arguably possibly better skilled team, and when the other team (my team) was wiping them across the ice.  How cool is it that just as people, they turned that into fuel and energy and not depression and gave up.

Of, course, I wasn’t about to say that out loud with the hockey fans near me.  And I was hoping we’d win.

It was actually cool, as I did a beer & chicken run at the beginning of the game, and in every shop I stopped in (which was like a ghost town as everyone was at home watching the big game), the staff were excited and watching off their handhold devices, and the local pubs which was packed to the rim with excited crowds.   Yes, there nerves and a little tension, but in the end, the crowds were excited about experiencing the game together.   When we were 3-0 behind and became clear we were headed in a painful direction, again the crowds seemed disappointed but not “hateful or spiteful”.  It was more of a sense of disbelief as we were leading, and it looked like a missed opportunity and we came so close, that it was a little painful to lose.

Vancouver has experienced a huge sense of “everyone getting along”, shared joy and tolerance.  Generally, we don’t have hate crimes, people say hello when you walk by on the streets or in the park.  It is common where I live to have a 15 min chat with a total stranger as I walk my dog on a daily basis.

And win or lose, we just loved everyone from different countries coming to Vancouver to hang out with us during the winter Olympics.  It was common that pubs or restaurants were full of opposing countries and we all celebrated together.  Plus every summer we have a fireworks festival where 300,000 people get together on the streets and the worst that happens is the cops end up pouring out the snuck in alcohol.  But families feel safe coming out.

Bullying in schools is even a small problem here, compared to what many other countries and cities are going through.   In fact many people I grew up never had one single incident.

So last night, there were approximately 100,000 fans that went to the city center to watch the game on the jumbo-screen, and we all expected the alcohol pour out and maybe an idiot or two getting into a scuffle.  But nothing serious.

So that makes what happened last night so shocking.

Several individuals aged between 16 – 21 entered the city with the INTENTION of destruction.  Some even planned it.  They even “hoped” we’d lose so they could riot.

They over turned cars, set cars & dumpsters on fire, looted and shattered retail windows a block long.   There were many heroic bystanders also trying to stop those few bad seeds, and some of them got hurt doing so.

What was shocking to me MOST was that bad seeds were so PROUD of their totally idiotic behavior, and egged on the cops and posed for pictures by the destruction. Some even jumped into the burning cars making it a game. They didn’t even care who filmed them stealing.

Please tell me, when did being a total moron – become cool?  There was one guy lighting a car on fire, then looked into the news camera and said “Joni I love you!” and I was sarcastically thinking – “wow what a lucky girl”, seriously, that Joni girl, must have some major personal issues to be dating him.

First, this frightened the heck out of me about this age group of people- I mean what kind of stupid teens are we raising here?  And geez – how awful does this look for the future of our world.  That was a particularly nasty thought.

And then I thought – seriously we need to give these idiots something to really worry about in their lives as apparently life is too entitled and easy for them that they have NO RESPECT or EMPATHY for other people or other’s property.

Then, completely out of character (and coming from my anger at their arrogance), I suddenly found myself wishing and playing out in my mind different scenarios:
1) A secret good guy vigilantly sniper picking out these people one by one, shooting them in the legs until police could throw them in the tank.
2) A giant robot that could suck these few bad seeds out of the street and then shoot them into the Middle East or some worn town country.

Seriously, how do people live through our times and not understand HOW GOOD WE HAVE IT?  Even with all our day to day struggles, we as a nation don’t have to deal with the severe life and death problems that many others face.  Rioting to get rid of a scary dictator – good idea, rioting to beg for jobs – makes sense, rioting to avoid torture – etc, but rioting because you’re a bored juvenile idiot?

And it got me thinking about something else that may have affected you…

How many times do we in our business (or life) help others, lift up others, provide solutions and help to our customers, and even if we have received 200 “you’ve changed my life” statements, and 1000 or 10,000 thank you’s and I love you and your products, programs etc – then we get 1 single hate mail or, person who intentionally tries to ruin your reputation, or spread lies or something – it can make everything else irrelevant.

I am not talking about an unhappy customer that maybe you could help them further to provide them what they are missing.  I am speaking about the attacking, nasty one.

Maybe you are brighter than me (I hope so in this case), and not let this get to you.   But being candid, this actually just happened to me a few weeks ago.  It took a few weeks for me to come to a place of understanding what their true motivation is, and not take it emotionally to heart.  In fact it had nothing to do with me; I was simply a pawn in the game towards getting money out of someone else.  I’m still shocked people do this.

Actually I remember in an interview Oprah saying that she gets millions of fan mail, but if she gets a nasty one, it can take over her mind for days and sometimes she never forgets it.  Yet she may forget a compliment 10 seconds after she has heard it.

You see, these few bad seeds, don’t come close to represent who I am or who you are and what I provide, or what you provide for others.  And I vowed to remember all the MANY voices, and not discount them instead of spending time and energy on the negative few.

So please share with everyone on my blog below.

Was this a mirror for you?   Has this ever happened to you?

You get 1000 compliments and 1 nasty comment and you focus on that one, or do you quickly dismiss it and see the weight of positive, the true reflection of who you are and what you offer?

Did you get any insights?

What did you do or tell yourself or them?

Did you grow from this or your own experience?

I LOVE you guys – you are the best.  Keeping shining that light inside of you.

Police and 3am Dog Rescue!

Posted on 05 May 2011 | Author Stefanie | Comments 22 comments | Tags

, , ,

Had an interesting night last night, thought I would share it with you.  You know it was really a lesson about people waiting for someone else to help someone in need.  I even saw a show about this on “What would you do?”, where people witnessed someone needing help and 99% of people did nothing to help.  Well that happened last night.

I am getting over a bad head cold, plus sore throat and lying in bed trying to get some much needed shut eye last night as I have some very full days ahead due to vacation coming up.  Basically I’m working double time to try to fit as many meetings as I can and finish up work so it’s seamless when I’m away and family moves in to basically vacation swap at my place.

All night my husband and I hear a loud dog barking and crying.  We were hoping that the dog would just settle down.

It goes on until about 2:30am, when we can’t take it anymore and go out to do something about it.

My own dog started to pant and pace, as it was picking up anxious energy from the barking dog.  Dogs seem to know when a dog is just barking or is really stressed.  It got me thinking:  What if the dog is hurt?  What if the owners are hurt in their home and the dog is alerting us?  What if an angry tired neighbor gets frustrated and hurts the dog?

That’s when my husband knew he wasn’t going to get any sleep because if he didn’t go I would have.  And he doesn’t want me wandering around in a park at night trying to find a stray dog.

So in the dark and the rain, out goes my husband to first establish if the dog is hurt or not.  He comes home to report that it seems fine, is not tied down or anything, is in fact in someone’s back yard and has a name tag and is actually a sweet black lab trying to get into its house.

The dog was barking but my husband and I take a lot of dog training so we know how to gently dominate and relax even a large animal.   The dog is soon licking my husband and trusts him.  My husband returns to the house to give it one of our dog’s own bones and some food and water thinking that might help. It is now 3am.

Well the lab ate like it was starving and was quiet while it chewed the bone – for about ½ hour.

Then it started up again.  So we phoned animal control to see if they could house it for the night and try to locate the owner.  Last thing I want is for an animal to be put down, so we stressed it is obviously owned and lives in that house.  They tell us they cannot do anything until the morning.

I remembered years ago when the SPCA wouldn’t come out at 6pm to help rescue tiny kittens that had fallen in a grate in front of my apartment.  My girlfriend and I spent an hour rescuing these little things ourselves. And my friend even drove 45 minutes to get to me.

No wonder citizens have created their own rescue programs as these big institutions seem to not be of much use.

So it’s now 4am and with my husband due to work in just 3.5 hours and no sleep at all, goes out again because we see 2 cop cars with lights flashing and now the dog is screaming bloody murder and we hear the animal hitting the house and all kinds of noises that really creeps you out – you know the kind that makes your little hairs stand up?  So my husband again runs outside, down the block to see if he can help.

Well the 2 police officers were called by separate neighbors (not us) trying to help somehow I guess.  The officers did not know how to handle animals and were scaring it and this could possibly have turned ugly and ending in a dog bite.  Plus they told my husband they had no options.  They didn’t want to leave the dog but they could not take her either.

So in minutes my husband calms the dog again, and suggests to the officers that we take it in for the night as they were baffled as what to do with it and we put a note on the front door of the owners’ house that we had their dog and to call us.

The officers’ looked into the house and saw that it looked abandoned.  So we didn’t know if this dog was just left when the owners moved and they deliberately left their dog (this happens) or if they were renovating it and staying at a hotel nearby.  We had no clue.

So in our house walks this big black lab so happy to be inside, his tail thudding loudly on our floor as it wags.  It was raining outside while this was happening so both my husband and the dog needed to be toweled off.

Our own dog who is a small 16 pound schnoodle (half poodle and schnauzer) welcomed the 80 lb dog, let it eat her food and even slept beside it all night and contributed to calming the lab during the night.  Which is amazing as our dog typically fears big dogs as she was attacked when she was tiny and generally prefers humans to any dog, any day.  She doesn’t even want to greet or smell other dogs.

The lab was so exhausted and its 80 lb body was still stressed as it was in tension for over 4 hours, it slept very loudly with loud snores and small whines that were clearly unintentional but essential ways for its poor body to attempt to recover and re-gain balance.

So really we saved the neighbors sleep but now not our own.  Although we felt very good about helping this sweet animal.  We took comfort in the fact that the dog relaxed instantly when it was inside our house.  It felt safe and no longer alone. Listened to our commands and slept next to us all night.  It was not a bad dog, it was a good dog in a bad situation – a situation created by people.

Early this morning we found out that the owners moved out due to renovations, and this dog was supposed to be with a house sitter a block and half away.  At some point the sitters say they lost the dog and tried to look for it (ya right you could hear this dog for blocks as we live in a really quite neighborhood).  And why wouldn’t they think to go to the dog’s house to see if it found its way home?  Plus the dog was in a closed gated backyard.

What we think really happened is that they deliberately left the dog in the owner’s back yard, and sent their son out in the morning to feed it and the kid panicked when it wasn’t in the yard and ran home to the house sitter (his dad).  Then they found our note and collected her from us and gave us a made up story.  It is likely they planned on leaving the dog in that backyard out in the elements for many days or weeks, and just drop off food and the owners would be none the wiser.  I may be wrong but their story just doesn’t add up.

These are not dog sitters I would hire, and to me is a form of abuse – it’s neglect.  And they are LUCKY that no harm came to this dog, that it was us who came, instead of a bad or stressed out person who could have shut the dog up in a harmful way.

So today I am very proud of my little family, my husband and my dog, each of us played a role.  And it just goes to show, convenient or not, don’t assume someone else is helping that animal or person in need, or that they can.

I’m tired, but my conscious is clear and that’s a great feeling.  And I think I love my family just a little bit more today, and what a great thing that is.

Please add in your comments, I’d love to know your thoughts on this and any story you have.

Birthday Wish & Watch for doubts creeping into your work.

Birthday Wish & Watch for doubts creeping into your work.Today is my husband’s birthday so I just want to wish him a  VERY Happy Birthday!!!

Can you believe I actually forgot this morning when I woke up.  Man!  Now I have to make it up with 3 days of celebrating!  Ha Ha.

I’m hoping  if you wish him a happy birthday too – he’ll forgive me. Actually I think he is enjoying holding this over my head.

I just got back from 4 days in Mexico  – it was a work trip but very little work got done.  Mostly sun worshiping work.   I did fall in love in Mexico – with a hammock!  My goal is to add a hammock to my backyard this summer.  Nothing was better than lying in the hammock with my Ipod , near the ocean feeling the warm breezes go over me while I gently swung in my hammock.  Do I not sound in love???  It’s weird I know, but the most relaxed feeling I’ve had in weeks!

I have to confess, I am writing my book “Stop Trading Your Time for Money”, it has signed on with a publisher and the manuscript is due, logo is done, trademark is in.  But it’s been harder to write than I thought.  I got jealous when someone told me they were in the “zone” and their book wrote themselves.  Generally I’m not a jealous person, but I admit I was green with envy.  Then it made me think, maybe I’m not writing what I’m supposed to be writing.  Maybe it’s not meant to be.  Silly thoughts and doubts.

So in Mexico, I happened to be sitting next to someone outside this business at dinner and he asked about my book and he got so excited about it – it re-lit the fire in me.  Now I am “speaking” my book (recording and transcribing), and we’ll see how that goes.  But friends and family and probably you know that blabbermouth here may just succeed in that.  So I’ll keep you posted.

Amazing what a little trip and outside perspective can do for you.  Outside your own head perspective that is  – for sure.

My advice – if you get stuck – change your scenery and get outside your office and head!  Do something fun.  Even just head to the beach or play golf – or practically propose marriage to a hammock – whatever makes you happy and gives you some fun and peace.  I also did some zip-lining (which scared the pants off me by the way) to exert some frustrated energy.

Also check in with yourself to see if you have created a monster of a self-imposed timeline.  Yesterday I just moved my book launch because it felt so rushed it was causing some stress for me and my team.  Now it feels freer and I’m actually looking forward to it.  So that may have contributed to the writers block problem too.

So hey  I may not be in this magical “zone” everyday, but  that’s because doubt sneaks in,  and yet I do have some magical moments.  So I’m doing some spring cleaning and clearing those cob webs out.  I hope you do too if that ever happens to you.

I am prepping for our first Spring Vegas Mastermind event next weekend at Trump tower.  I am so excited – I booked the penthouse so we’ll all be working with a great view of the strip.  I will be masterminding with a group of 13 people, focusing on strategies and immediate solutions for their business.  Plus I will be adding some mobile marketing training, podcast workshop and product planning and revenue strategic planning.

Plus a special top secret “Behind the Scenes” field trip to talk to some fun successful entrepreneurs!!  3 power packed days.

Looking forward to hearing your advice or experiences as well.  Oh and hey don’t forget your loved ones birthdays!  Ha ha.

How to Set, Track and Manage Your Goals

Posted on 08 Jan 2011 | Author Stefanie | Comments 6 comments | Tags

It’s that time of year when you are creating goals to define where you want to go this year or you are reassessing where you are and creating new goals as you grow and your desires change.

Here’s something I’d like you to consider – use this e-book to design the lifestyle or business model that you want - not to think about “I should” or “I need to” goals.  Because once you define what you want – then you can look for ways to outsource or get help with the rest of it.

Having a life that is FUN AND brings in MONEY may be the ultimate goal.

Let’s face it focus is important…without an idea or a target in mind of how you want your life to be like every day you experience something similar to being in a canoe without paddles – great for a while that is until you see that big waterfall drop off ahead.

Exciting for a week, but you will soon get bored or feel overwhelmed by having no direction and millions of ideas and people and suggestions for what you “should be” doing coming at you, a similar feeling to drowning.

Narrowing your focus helps you to actually get things done or do them well.

After all – you are the CEO of your life. A company without direction is a company going bankrupt financially and emotionally.

This e-book was complied by asking 53 Entrepreneurs to give us their best tips on how to set, track and manage goals and in between their great ideas, I have sprinkled in my own direction based on experience plus included a planning guide at the end.  Inevitably there will be someone’s style that will speak to you.

Publish an Amazon Kindle eBook

Few people realize how quickly you can have a book up and published using Amazon’s Kindle reader – when you know how.

Fortunately, you’re invited to a brand new webinar I’ve done with my friend Daniel Hall with Complete Step-By-Step Instructions on Publishing an eBook Today Using Amazon’s Kindle

BTW these really are step-by-step instructions. Everything you need is covered. We are holding NOTHING back. In fact, our promise is you’ll be able to publish an ebook on Kindle right after you watch the webinar. Did I mention? This training is complimentary. Even so the content is solid gold. Yes, Daniel will make an offer for his Real Fast Book site… but only after he fully delivers on his promise.

Visit:  http://realfastbook.com/stefkindle.html

So in the true spirit of giving great tips and advice I asked Daniel to give us some ideas on how to use your Blog to become a bestseller

Daniel has been blogging for about five years. Not consistently. Just anytime he had something to say or contribute or promote. Often times – because he is all about getting the biggest bang for his buck – he will take his blog posts and re-purpose them. I love this idea, In the MIT Program I tell all my students various ways to repurpose content to make their life easier and Daniel goes on to explain a great way for you to do that with your blog posts.

Daniel turns his posts into articles and distributes them in the article directories.  He will also arrange to republish the piece as a guest post.  Sometimes he will convert the post into a PowerPoint and make what is in effect a video article which is then posted on youtube and other video portals.

So, as you can tell, re-purposing content is the way to go.

Along the way Daniel learned how to publish books through Print on Demand technology and soon after he mastered how to publish content through Amazon’s Kindle, which is what he will talk to us about on the webinar. In fact, he started to write and publish a bunch of original Kindle books. It was about this time that he decided to republish some of his best blog posts as separate Kindle books.

The results of his first attempt is astonishing… here’s what happened.

Daniel wrote what he thought was a really good Fourth of July post called “Book Marketing: The Long Tail of Freedom” It was a longer post than normal for him and he thought it might be a great piece to publish on Kindle. He changed the name of the post to “Information Product Marketing: The Long Tail of Freedom” and did some light editing. He then published the piece to Kindle.

It started to consistently sell and before he knew it the book popped on to the Kindle bestseller list!

So what’s the lesson in this?

You’re a blogger. You have great stuff.  Get it out there and working for you on Kindle. You never know what’s going to gain some traction and really start selling. Maybe even make your post (come Kindle book) into a bestseller. At a minimum you’ll create a residual income source and disseminate your message to a larger audience.

The question now is how do you master publishing through Kindle?

Have fun!
