Just a little note to hope you all have a Happy Halloween and enjoy this spooky, fun holiday.
I remember when I was little how much fun it was to put on my costume and paint my face or dye my hair a scary green or don my costume wig. Then we’d go house to house seeing all the home-made decorations the neighbors made just to attract the kids to their door and try to frighten them or show them we were really princesses.
We would then take home our big haul of candy that my sister and I gathered in our plastic pumpkin baskets and I would hide mine under my bed from my sister (granted probably not the most top secret spot I could have thought of, but I thought I was being sneaky besides that way I could reach under my bed in the middle of the night and fish out a tasty treat).
I looked forward to seeing the fireman’s annual bonfire. I was always amazed at seeing everyone’s costumes and I loved seeing grown-ups all dressed up too. Somehow as a kid it made me feel more grown up and part of something big.
So if our childhood or our kids can teach us anything – lets all enjoy the simple things. Let’s really look at those carved pumpkins that line our neighbors steps, take in the vibrant colors of the changing leaves on all the trees during this crisp air night, and most of all bond with our kids and neighbors, whether we’re out seeing them or they come to our doors.
Tell me what you think of this costume?
Have a safe and Happy Halloween!
All the best, Stefanie
